Vortex-Line Phase Diagram for Anisotropic Superconductors
نویسنده
چکیده
The zero temperature vortex phase diagram for uniaxial anisotropic superconductors placed in an external magnetic field tilted with respect to the axis of anisotropy is studied for parameters typical of BSCCO and YBCO. The exact Gibbs free energy in the London approximation, using a self-energy expression with an anisotropic core cutoff, is minimized numerically, assuming only that the equilibrium vortex state is a vortex-line-lattice with a single vortex line per primitive unit cell. The numerical method is based on simulated annealing and uses a fast convergent series to calculate the energy of interaction between vortex lines. A phase diagram with three distinct phases is reported and the phases are characterized in detail. New results for values of the applied field close to the lower critical field are reported. 74.60.Ge, 74.60-w Typeset using REVTEX Corresponding author. Phase transitions in high-Tc superconductors and the anisotropic three-dimensional XY model
We carry out simulations of the anisotropic uniformly frustrated three-dimensional XY model, as a model for vortex line fluctuations in high-Tc superconductors. We compute the phase diagram as a function of temperature and anisotropy, for a fixed applied magnetic field B . We find that superconducting coherence parallel to B persists into the vortex line liquid state, vanishing at a Tcz above t...
متن کاملElasticity and melting of vortex crystals in anisotropic superconductors: Beyond the continuum regime
The elastic moduli of vortex crystals in anisotropic superconductors are frequently involved in the investigation of their phase diagram and transport properties. We provide a detailed analysis of the harmonic eigenvalues ~normal modes! of the vortex lattice for general values of the magnetic field strength, going beyond the elastic continuum regime. The detailed behavior of these wave-vector-d...
متن کاملDepinning and dynamic phases in driven three-dimensional vortex lattices in anisotropic superconductors
We use three-dimensional molecular dynamics simulations of magnetically interacting pancake vortices to study the dynamic phases of vortex lattices in highly anisotropic materials such as BSCCO. Our model treats the magnetic interactions of the pancakes exactly, with long-range logarithmic interactions both within and between planes. The pancake vortices decouple at low drives and show two-dime...

Comment on " Vortex Liquid Crystal in Anisotropic Type II Superconductors " Recently Carlson et al. [1] tried to compose the H − T phase diagram of anisotropic superconductors based on the Lindemann criterion for melting of flux-line lattice. It is worthy to notice that the issue itself is interesting. However, their conclusion on the existence of a smectic vortex phase is unphysical for the fo...
متن کاملVan der Waals interaction between flux lines in High-Tc Superconductors
In anisotropic or layered superconductors thermal fluctuations as well as impurities induce a van der Waals (vdW) attraction between flux lines, as has recently been shown by Blatter and Geshkenbein in the thermal case [Phys. Rev. Lett. 77, 4958 (1996)] and by Mukherji and Nattermann in the disorder dominated case [Phys. Rev. Lett. 79, 139 (1997)]. This attraction together with the entropic or ...
